Blu Ponds
Blu Ponds was born into the lowest class of pigmential society, but he's never let that get him down. For as long as they were alive, his parents made sure he was fed and clothed and knew how to use common sense. But they died when he was 9 years old, and so he was left in the care of his parent's friend: Holly Thorns. He was raised along side her daughter, Petal. Petal was always a bit too intense for Blu. She had big ambitions to get out of their low class status, while Blu was more laid back and had no problem with staying where he was. But Petal always seemed to get what she wanted in the end- because their whole childhood was spent studying in order to get the chance of a lifetime- The privilege of going to high school.

Blu started out as an edgy roleplay character I made with my best friend. The entire Color Coded crew was. I don’t remember much of it, But I do know he was the leader of a group of criminals. Safe to say, the story has changed a lot since then.
Blu is actually one of the first characters I came up with an original design for. He’s managed to keep the blue skin and orange hair for the entire time I’ve had him. His personality used to be much more aggressive and unpredictable. He was the wild card at one point.
Despite how different he was back then, one of the biggest factors of his story has always been poverty. Even in the original story, he steals to give money back to the community he grew up in. His main goal isn’t fame or fortune. It’s just a house with a picket fence.
Even now, his story is impacted by the fact that he grew up a poor kid. He pulls from my own experience of not having as much as a kid than everyone else in my class. The trailer I lived in was tiny, but I was happy with it until others told me it wasn’t enough. At one point, I believed what they said about me not deserving more. I believed what they said about my accomplishments meaning nothing because I was poor. Blu embodies this part of my life. He doesn’t believe he deserves more despite proving time and time again he’s capable of great things. His biggest inner conflict is learning to accept all he’s earned and to break free from the label of ‘the poor kid.’
