So, I’m assuming more than a few of you have questions as to why you’re here. If you haven’t interacted with me before, I’m pretty sure you have no idea who I am or what I’m all about. So here’s my intro post.

Heyo! My name is Emmet Luna, I’m currently 22 years old, and I’m a storyteller.

I’ve been making up characters and stories for as long as I can remember. Mainly to keep myself distracted or to help me process emotions and information that seemed daunting to me- but somewhere along the line I started making characters that grew into having their own stories. Little people inside my head with lives other than my own. With experiences and thoughts and wants that I didn’t have, but that were there for them.

Of course, after the characters took shape, everything else followed.

Entire planets, new species, whole societal systems were created to fit what I was seeing. Of course, on some level I knew I was making this up myself, but the process led me to discover new topics I would have never delved into if not for this.

Along the way, I discovered a lot about myself and the world we all live in. I found out who I was as a person and the kind of legacy I wanted to leave behind.

We all like to believe we are special while we are alive. We all want to imagine a future where our names are still uttered even centuries after our passing. But when you look at the patterns of history, you start to find that only a handful of people are remembered. We learn of the great rulers of the past, but we never learn of the people they ruled over. We learn of choices that changed the course of time, but we rarely look into every single person that helped shaped those decisions. We chalk it all up to people with wisdom far beyond themselves or things such as destiny or fate- but what if the people involved in changing history are just people? People who can get influenced by the littlest of things. People who make mistakes and are too afraid of looking stupid to let anyone know their initial choice wasn’t what they wanted. People who weren’t bright, but knew someone who was bright and just repeated their ideas as if they were their own.

It was when these thoughts and the characters inside my head started to merge that I came up with a way to teach people of these things while still making it comprehensible and entertaining. I created a big event to serve as the catalyst for these characters to be remembered in their histories, but only after I had already seen the characters as individual people who would have still been themselves despite if they changed the world or not.

I guess in the end this is just a big ol’ way to rationalize to myself that the world is big. The universe is big. Odds are, no one will even know of my existence in 500 years. It’s a scary thought, but as with most things, the little characters in my head will help me understand it and feel better about it. And as an added bonus, by sharing the stories with the world, maybe I can help other people out there come to terms with the same kind of thoughts.

And hey, even if I won’t be remembered, hopefully my characters will.
